The Hopestart Children's Home is a home for orphans and abandoned children in the town of Jérémie, in the Caribbean country of Haiti. Established in August of 2013, this home provides a place of safety, care and holistic development for children who have been neglected and abused, and before then had not known the meaning of love.
Life for children in Haiti is often very difficult. Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere according to the Human Development Index published by the United Nations. Many children have only one parent. All too often, when there is not enough money to care for children, parents abandon them.
